Activities at Monstay

Walking

Miles of footpaths are accessible from the campsite, heading into Mortimers Forest and the South Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To the South footpaths run down into the Wigmore valley, with a network of trails covering the picturesque villages and Welsh foothills.

Mountain Biking

Bringewood Downhill Mountain Bike area sits right above the Campsite and you can cycle directly to the trail starts, with 10+ routes for all abilities. For MTB riders seeking a real test head to the Black-graded Brindgewood Downhill course, a 1.1km British Downhill series host course.

Ludlow Parkrun

Hosted every Saturday morning opposite the Farm entrance, the Ludlow parkrun is famed for being one of the toughest in the UK. 5km of brutal up and down forest trail will test even the most committed parkrunners. The campsite is a 5 min downhill jog from the start line.

Stargazing

With no cities for 40 miles in any direction, and virtually no light polution from the farm or surrounding villages, Monstay is a perfect place to experience the stunning beauty of the night sky. Whether you're a committed stargazer seeking a clear sky, or just want to sit with family and friends below a canopy of stars, there a few places better situated than Monstay.

Wild Swimming

The river Teme flows through the village of Burrington, a short drive from the Campsite. Carrying clean water water from the neighbouring Welsh hills above Powys, the river is shallow and meandering, with several pebble beaches as entry points. A perfect location for wild swimming or a summertime cool-off.

Herefordshire Black and White Trail

Tour some of the best preserved Medieval villages in the UK by either bike, car or on foot. Only a few miles from the Campsite, the villages offer numerous options for walking, eating, drinking and exploring local history. Between the villages you'll enjoy gentle orchards and rolling countryside.
